November 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the ending of WWI and we are commemorating this year with a special event called “Novembrance 2018” which takes place at St John the Baptist church, Pewsey at 6.30pm on Sat 10th Nov.
Members of the church team youth group will play the parts of the Pewsey Church choir boys of 1910 (shown in the picture above). Many of these boys were just old enough to enlist to “fight for king and country” in the early part of the Great War. We do not know how many returned wounded, but we do know of those who were killed as their names appear on the war memorial. Also shown above is the Reverend Bennett who was similarly killed in WWI.
Our production on Saturday 10th November at 6.30 pm will look at the war through the eyes of our choir boys and friends and will involve the audience led by our church choir and band members singing along with the songs of the time as the drama progresses. We will learn a little more about the war and our local boys who fought in it. Refreshments will be served during the break. Information about the choir and WWI will also be on display.
Seating is limited so be quick to get your Free Entrance ticket from the Prospect shop in Pewsey.
The event takes place at St John the Baptist church, Pewsey at 6.30pm on Sat 10th Nov.
