Palm Sunday – Jesus and his friends had arrived in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival of Passover. News had spread that Jesus was on the way and a huge crowd gathered, they put their coats on the floor and grabbed palm leaves to wave. What a surprise when Jesus arrived, he was riding on a young donkey! It was just as the prophet Zechariah had written over 400 years before:
“Rejoice greatly, people of Jerusalem! Shout for joy, people of Jerusalem! Your king is coming to you. He does what is right, and he saves. He is gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt of a donkey.” Zechariah 9 v9
